Taraba State Governor flown to Germany

AT last, Taraba State governor, Mr. Danbaba
Suntai, was on Saturday evening, flown to
Germany for further medical treatment following
injuries he sustained in a plane crash.
He was brought to the National Hospital, Abuja,
on Friday, from Adamawa State, and was moved
out of the National Hospital where he was
receiving treatment at about 3:30 pm.
It was not clear as at press time the exact hospital
he was being taken to in Germany.
Suntai’s plane crashed on Thursday near the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC
Depot in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Also with the governor in the plane were his aide-
de-camp and his chief security officer as well as
three others.
The governor was said to have sustained injuries
on his arm, head and abdomen.
President Jonathan, who visited the injured
governor, on Friday afternoon at the National
Hospital said, he was optimistic that the governor
would soon be well.
"First and foremost, I have to thank God for what
has happened. Plane crash is not something you
just wave off. We are quite happy that the
governor is stable, I have seen him, doctors are
working very hard on him.
"I believe that God willing, he will come out of it.
But he is still in the hospital. Being a governor,
people are worried. People want to know the state
of his health," he said.
The Chief Medical Director of the National
Hospital, Abuja, Professor Shehu, also confirmed
that Suntai was in a good state.
"He is very stable. For the first 24 hours of any
injuries, there were worries; but they were very
few,’’ he said.
