Among those paying tribute to Margaret Thatcher was Boris Johnson. The Mayor of London described her as the "greatest Prime Minister since Winston Churchill.
Speaking outside 10 Downing Street, the Prime Minister paid tribute "a great leader". Ed Miliband said that while Labour supporters had disagreed "with much of what she did", he said the party could still "hugely respect her extraordinary achievements and her extraordinary personal strength."
The Russian President Vladimir Putin hailed her as "among the most brilliant political figures of our age."
