10 Simple Strategies Any Network Marketing Pro Uses When Starting Their Business

Yes, the network marketing industry is growing—really growing. People are flocking to MLM companies, all at a time when the US median household income is at a virtual standstill—and has been for the last 16 yearsIt is only natural for every ambitious middle-class American to have visions of grandeur…. They dream about becoming the next network marketing pro and swimming in residual income.  Others may have tempered their expectations a bit and are just hungry to earn a decent side income when starting a home business.  The power of the internet grows ever single day, along with more and more people wanting to have better leverage with their free time, are becoming large factors into people hitching their wagon to MLM companies.  Probably the biggest reason that people are able to climb aboard—on impulse—is due to the minimal investment required to start becoming a network marketing pro, all from the friendly confines of their living room.
I hate to be the Debbie downer, but there are some sobering facts you need to face prior to taking this plunge. Half of the people who join an MLM network drop out within the first year. More than 90% are gone within five years. Those who remain behind have already earned the lion’s share of the profits and are ready to launch other networks.  It takes a lot of hard work, patience, the right networking and a little bit of luck to fully blossom as a network marketing pro in these MLM companies.
Here are 10 things you must be prepared to do if you want to break on through:

#1. Remember, Nothing is Free

The chances of starting a successful business with zero money are slim to none. Sooner or later, you’re going to have to start shelling out some cash monies. In factresearch indicates that a successful marketing network may cost as much as $25,000 or more to get up and running. Slap on another $1000 per year in recurring expenses (at least) for traveling, lunch ‘n’ learns, SEO, website & content development, landing pages & autoresponders, or anything else to recruit prospects and you will start figuring out that the amount of cash required will snowball quickly.  Imagine if all this money results in… no results? The moral of the story: before joining these MLM companies and labeling yourself a network marketing pro, be ready for these costs by carefully planning a strategy.

#2. Define Your WHY

The road ahead is tough, so you are going to need all the encouragement and inspiration in the world. It’s critical that you have a clear vision of your goals. It should be something more than “I want extra money” or “I just like to work from home.” Your WHY should be big enough to keep inspiring you, as well the network marketing pro in your up-line, every single day.  The goal is obvious with all MLM companies: make a residual income. But, until you start caring about the people you are recruiting, and helping them do the same thing you are doing, the results will be minimal. For example, if you’re selling cosmetics, your goal can be the “help people feel beautiful” and truly care about the people you are helping. If you are trying to recruit people to join your travel club, you should be passionate about exploring the world yourself, while helping others join in the fun. Some of these MLM companies take the ‘pay it forward’ a step further and give back to their communitiesThese are the organizations that create network marketing pro after network marketing pro, year-in and year-out.

#3. Believe in the Product

To piggie back on to the end of what was mentioned in #2, the company has to create, sell or market a product that you can believe in. I mean, really believe in.  This is true in any kind of sales and marketing company: if you do not believe in your product, how do you expect the customer to?. Unless you are an exceptional liar (or a person that can make chicken salad out of chicken sh*&, when selling), you cannot possibly convince others to do the same.  Your heart and passion will not be there for with the opening discussion, sales and marketing of the product—and it is extremely obvious. Network Marketing Pro, Eric Worre, suggests you should not only use your product or service, but, but promote it. If you are marketing skin care products, like Radien Anti-Aging skin technology & wound repair, you should use the product every time you have the opportunity. Then take pictures, show everyone you know and be happy & proud about the results. Read blogs about skin care and show people guides on how they can take care of their skin. If you market organic and all natural household items and foods, with MLM companies like Melaleuca, buy the products…Use the products. Tell people how they worked for you. Educate the people you know in your network about the benefits of eating well or how dangerous & toxic some of our household cleaners can be.  When you use the products and believe in them—you will start transforming into a real network marketing pro because it will be natural.

#4. Be Consistent

Establishing a successful MLM network isn’t easy. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You’re going to need an unwavering commitment to be consistent, regardless of the results.  When it’s going great, don’t get too high. When it’s low, you must do everything in your power, not to get too low. Keep the same routine and game-plan in-tact. Anyone that hops on with these MLM companies, goes through the same trials & tribulations as you will. If your goal is to meet at least one new prospect, share your product with at least one person, and spend some time on building your own skills, every single day throughout your first year in business. Then you can’t rest on your laurels when sales are blowing up…and you can’t get down in the gutter when no one will talk to you. Motivation from your buddy, Mr. Network marketing pro, will be a huge factor in staying consistent.

#5. Be Professional..and Passionate

Have you ever met a network marketing pro who complains about his or her job? It is almost the complete opposite: the guy is so happy, fun, bubbly and passionate it’s almost annoying that someone can be that happy.  Nobody likes a whiner, so don’t air your problems and grievances when you meet a group. Always be positive and have the enthusiasm to inspire your partners.  Passion, happiness, and fun are contagious—if you exude that, people will want what you’re having, or what you are doing. Your dressing, facial expressions, and enthusiasm must reflect professionalism, energy, and confidence.

#6. Be Unapologetic and Get Face to Face

Like any network marketing pro, you should be prepared to meet two kinds of people on your journey to greatness. The first will be those who discourage you, frown upon you, make fun of you, or just be indifferent toward your business.  (NOTE: This is when MLM companies stress the ‘friends and family’ sales plan makes things awkward. I stay WAY clear of friends and family because I don’t want to be that guy. You know, that guy that walks into a room full of people and 30 seconds later, the place has cleared? Yep, not me and not the way I do things.) The second group of people will instantly ‘get it’. They will believe in your product and vision, encourage you, and be willing to help you. It’s the second kind of people you need to focus on. Don’t focus on the haters…. Just realize that this isn’t for everyone and walk away from those who bring negativity.

#7. Share Your Product

Almost all the MLM companies agree with this method: Sharing. Sharing your products with your prospects and partners and asking them to become a part of your network are perhaps the most important—as well as the most difficult part of your job—but you must do them every day. Network marketing pro, Eric Worre, recommends using the magic words to get people to do what you want them to do. These are, “If I __________, would you_______.” If I send you my product, would you show it to your customers? If I send you a link to my product page, would you share it on your Facebook? Structuring your request like this makes your prospects more likely to say yes. Try it, you’ll be surprised.

#8. Tell Stories

This is not only applicable to MLM companies, but to anyone in sales. Nobody likes to read product descriptions. Everybody likes to read stories. In today’s socially connected world, compelling stories can go viral and make you famous sooner than you’d expect. Therefore, you must take the time to create a compelling story about your business and yourself. Every single network marketing pro has created his or her brand. This starts with telling the story of: you! After you have an inspirational back-story, you can use it to build more stories about your customers and products. Your stories should convey your personality and engage your audience emotionally. Boy meets girl, rags to riches, tribulation and success, resilience and reward…such are the stories that last forever.

#9. Get Digital

In case you have been living under a rock for the past 15 years, in order to become a network marketing pro, you need to get on the web…the world… wide… web. If you do not have a personal website in place, start one immediately. Then you need to follow that up with social media profiles in various places: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIN and the list can go on and on.  MLM companies have surged due to social media and people sharing products, services & experiences. There are plenty of tools available using which you can develop a professional looking website yourself. Try Wix or Shopify. But if you don’t have time to do it yourself, hire a good WordPress developer from freelancer spots such as Fiverr, Freelancer, or UpWork.  Ideally, you should have a blog and share your posts through the ‘Big 4’ social networking sites: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. From there, you can expand on the other avenues. Create a passionate and fun brand, by telling great stories, post awesome photos, share interesting articles, help your followers, engage in discussions, and leverage the power of social media to expand your business and build your brand.

#10. Ask for Help

Never shy away from asking people to sell or promote your product. Remember, it’s “network” marketing, so you have to build a strong network. MLM companies don’t grow as big as they do, just by selling their products—they grow their network marketing army through a network marketing pro accruing new members, left & right.  At some point, you got to put yourself out there and start looking people in the eye, asking them to join. How can you possibly build a network unless you ask people to join you or help you? Similarly, ask for help if you’re unsure about anything—products, marketing, and even compensation plans. If you don’t know how to take great photos, build a website, design a brochure, write a sales pitch, ask your network partners or direct message a network marketing proConsulting with a network marketing coach before you start your business can save you a lot of time, money and frustration in the near & long term. Network marketing forums and MLM networking sites, such as MLM Gateway, are great resources to connect with other people, trying to soar to becoming the next big network marketing pro.
With this list of Ten (10) things, there are probably another 100 things you need to learn when choosing one of these MLM Companies… but If you can promise to keep doing these 10 things, you will be well on your way to molding into the network marketing pro you want to be.
